With aluminum it is a good idea to connect your 230V multi-plug so you can up the amperage on the TIG machine. For 1⁄8-inch aluminum bar stock I set the machine to 140. The trick to welding aluminum is to warm up the puddle with slightly more amperage than normally needed. Then when the weld puddle is visible add material and start to move and dab the filler rod at a faster pace. Notice I keep the torch on the weld after I’m done welding.
