Each piston ring needed to be filed to fit. Hernandez placed the primary and secondary piston rings in the cylinder and filed them to fit using a piston ring file. After the piston rings were filed to the desired specs (primary .020/secondary .018) the rings were left in the cylinder wall to avoid mixing them with different cylinders. Make sure to round the sharp edges of the piston ring gap that you created during filing.
