The impact had not only crumpled the sheetmetal but it had pushed it forward into the door opening as well. In order to move everything rearward to where it should have been and to try and remake the vertical body line, I fashioned an attachment for my dent puller. I welded two sections of 3/4-inch rod together at one end, leaving one end open and a 1/8-inch gap between the two. To this I welded a nut to one of the bars and threaded it onto the dent puller. I then slid the assembly over/under the sheetmetal and beat the panel into submission. This moved things rearward quite a bit while maintaining the vertical body line at the rear edge of the panel.
