On the Quadrajet, the accelerator pump arm pivots on a roll pin. Linkage fits the hole indicated in the factory shop manual or a carburetor kit's instructions. The length of the pump stroke determines the amount of fuel that will flow through the pump jets and into the carburetor throats. Stumbling on acceleration is usually due to a defective accelerator pump or, if mainly at low speeds, a ruptured distributor vacuum advance diaphragm. View Related Article
