The rear sill panel can also be removed once the stake pockets are cut free. A new pair of rear mounts are bolted to the chassis; these will bolt up to the rear sill to support the back of the bed. At this point, we disassembled the bed and decided to sandblast the bedsides, tailgate, and crossmembers before going forward.
