The fuel sending unit is easy to set up. All you need to do is run wires from the power and ground posts on the front of the tank to the sending unit, and one to the fuel gauge in the instrument panel. | Before buttoning up the tank, make sure all the AN fittings and electrical connections have been tightened down. Also, don't forget that O-ring on the gas tank cover and to apply antiseize compound on all the threads of its hardware as well as on any AN fittings. It's cheap insurance any time you are dealing with stainless steel and aluminum parts and fittings. | As you can see, Rick's makes a nice gas tank that's almost too neat to stick underneath the truck out of sight. I measured carefully before ordering the tank to make sure it wouldn't hang down below the truck once installed. Notice from the side view, we accomplished our mission! With the bumper and tailgate on, you won't be able to see it from the rear, either. |
 | I needed something to carry the gas from the tank through all the Aeromotive pieces and finally to the motor. There are many ways to do this, but I chose -8 or 1/2-inch stainless steel hard line from Inline Tube because I want the truck to have a really nice, finished undercarriage. Braided stainless -8 hose from Speedway Motors will connect the tank to the frame and from the frame to the fuel pressure regulator. Braided could be run the whole length as well as aluminum tubing or push lock-style hose and fittings, but it really depends on what you want the end result to look like. Also needed was a tubing bender (which can be had from Inline Tube or Aeroquip), a 37-degree flaring tool, an AN fitting holding fixture (both from Speedway), and some single and double 1/2-inch line clamps from Kugel Komponents. | I started at the tank and installed an -8AN to hose end 90-degree fitting on the outlet and return ports on the tank to get the lines pointing up toward the framerail, where each line will go into another -8AN 90-degree fitting. Before that can happen, I needed to measure for the short sections of -8 braided stainless hose. |
