Performance Alternators - Get Amped Up!
The basic view here is common for many of you: a stock, externally-regulated three-wire GM alternator. They work, there's no doubt about it, but they just can't keep up with the times. As soon as I put air conditioning and a stereo in my '72 C-10, the stock alternator could be easily pushed past its anemic 40 amps at idle output.
