Someone had to take the picture, so while I released the shutter, the guys dumped all the garnet out of the bed before we loaded it up. Notice everyone wearing gloves-this will help keep the oils from their hands off the bare steel and reduce the chance of rust starting.

The bed's vertical surfaces were attacked with soda, while garnet was used on the top and bottom of the bed floor. The bed was one of the pieces I was really looking forward to getting blasted because I'll be doing a bunch of metalwork to it, which saves a lot of time grinding and sanding, especially in all the nooks and crannies!

1968 Ford F100
In preparation for sealing the unprotected sheetmetal, the areas that were blasted with soda need to be scrubbed with a brass brush and blown off with clean, dry compressed air. You can pick up a cheap BBQ brush like this at a big home center and pull the metal scraper off with a pair of pliers. Other than that, use the compressed air to blow the baking soda and garnet out of all the crevasses while vacuuming at the same time before painting everything with self-etching direct-to-metal primer. If Anacapa Soda Blasting can fit it in their booth, they'll blast it for you, so call them to discuss your needs!
