Wrapping up our series on Air Ride Technologies' latest ride-leveling system, the LevelPro, this month's installment will focus on the control system and the plumbing, the portion involving what may seem like a migraine's worth of wiring. If that's what you've been thinking up until this point, stop worrying-it's as easy as plug and play...as a matter of fact, that's pretty much what it is.
Air Ride's ARC4000L system may be a series of intricate components and even more intricate wiring harnesses, but fortunately, they've done all the hard work for you. Installation is merely a matter of finding the adequate location(s) for the controller, the level sensors (which we've already covered), the solenoid/pressure sensor block, the pump relay, and the display panel. Each corresponding wire harness is clearly labeled and pre-equipped with the appropriate pin connector, so just as the above reference states, it's pretty much plug it in and go! Beyond that, make certain all the grounds are attached securely and appropriately (clean metal).
As for the plumbing, that too is fairly straightforward. The push-connect 1/4-inch fittings do a fine job of sealing the DOT-approved air line; it's up to the installer to ensure the line is cut clean and straight; otherwise, the seal can't be guaranteed. Also, pay particularly close attention to how the air lines are routed-steer clear of moving parts and hot areas like the exhaust, and insulate anywhere necessary, especially when passing through a framerail or other potentially sharp metal surface. The use of line clamps in close intervals is also recommended to keep the air line mounted securely.
