The slow-drying varnish is pretty much like that old flytrap tape-anything that comes in contact is now part of it, so keep your work area clean! Air bubbles are another issue altogether, but can be dealt with as the varnish coats build up. After applying three thinned coats (the third with 10 percent thinner), apply at least two full-strength coats of varnish. The wood is not fully sealed until you have at least three coats (total) applied.
