I picked up an old 78 F150 plow truck the other day. Hit a few bumps on the way home and the front end bounced up and down so badly, I thought the rear end might go airborn! I ran the VIN and the truck was originally a 6cylinder, but the last owner swapped that out for an old 352 V8, and added the plow. Am I able to use F250 coils up front, or something else, or should I order a set of heavy-duty aftermarkets for a 150? Same question for front shocks. I don't want to change the ride hide, it sits nice now, just shady driving... Snow is coming guys, I need some input. He was driving down the highway at 55mph when he heard a pop and a large cloud of smoke roll out in the mirror. The thing went through two quarts of oil in about 40 miles! It now blows the PCV valve out of the valve cover and blows oil out the dipstick tube. My first thought is that it dropped a valve and jabbed a hole in a piston. That is the only thing I can think of that would put that much pressure inside the engine block. Can anyone support my theory or give me any other possibilities to check. I have all of my modifications to the dash and body done that I plan on making and now I am looking at starting the body work and painting. I would like to media blast the body and frame to start fresh with everything and have a good idea what I have under the old paint. I know it would save me a lot of time with a sander but I have been told it could damage the body panels if it is not done correctly. I have done some research but every shop has it’s preference on what media is best. Is it worth the cost to do the blasting and does anyone that has used media blasting have any suggestions on the type of media to get the best result without damaging the body. The motor is bad. I found a 1961 235ci inline 6 cylinder with a 3 speed. I want to keep the 4 speed. Then go buy an Edelbrock tuning kit, and try to make it run right. Personally, I've had no luck with Edelbrock carbs. I have all the block/bellhousing bolts out and I have an 8th inch gap between the two. I have jacked up the tranny and oil pan in multiple places but no go. I have read that you need to raise the engine while simultaneously pulling forward but nothing there either. It is a 283 mated with a four speed hydroglide. After starting it and running it for a couple of minutes i noticed steam coming from the radiator overflow reservoir, it )hadn't been hot up to this piont. I just bought this truck (1969 f-250 CS - 360ci w AC) a couple of weeks ago and have been driving every couple days to find any problems that need to be fixed. Like i mentioned, it hadn't been running hot up to this point, thats assuming the gauges are working. The water pump pulley seems to squeel when cold, so i was thinking about changing the water pump just to be safe. Do you think the Pertronix conversion could have somehow caused this or do you think this was just a coincidence? Since i have your attention, i am also replacing heater hoses and heater valve which is located on one of the heater hoses. The new valve has a direction flow arrow on it and im not sure what direction it should be pointing, im assuming it should be pointing towards the heater? Question #2 What direction should the arrow be pointing? Thanks once again guys, so far you are batting 3 for 3.
