can anyone tell me how wide of a wheel and the biggest offset i can run outback on my 57 chevy? im looking to go with an 18 inch wheel but dont know what width to go with or what offset to go with either. if theres anyone out there that knows just shoot me a reply, id really appreciate the help fellas :confused:

I know you can get big block springs for 63-66. I think that should suffice. If you have any doubts, switch to a 73-87 crossmember & suspension. They can definitely handle big iron, plus you get disc brakes..

I chopped my 49 4 inches. I can get the flat glass cut or made but I'm having trouble finding out information about the corner cab windows. Does anyone know where I can get those made or any other ideas. Thanks, Mark

Where can I find a manuel book etc that will show how to install parts for a 51 chevy 3100 5 window? I ordered door latch pins & detent(sp?) springs. The horseshoe shaped spring that holds the door when open. I need to know how to put them in. I got the old pins out & am ready to install the new ones. The instructions for the pins tell me to install the Detent springs 2 at this time on the top hinge. No other instructions. Thanks, Joe

Hi tchasstain06 I have never seen what differant gear ratios do to a 4X4 but it sounds like it would be funny to see but your right and it will break something. The only real way to tell is pull both diff covers and check the #s on them or count the teeth on the crown and the pinion and make sure they are the same.Divide the crown gear # of teeth by the pinion # of teeth and get your ratio. The 4x4s run a little differant ratio like 3.07 in front and 3.08 in rear they wont be identical.It's a pain in the rear but probable can't go by any tag # if there is a chance someone changed them.Go for a new set to match the higher # if you drive it on the hyw a lot you get better milage.

as you probably know 54 is the first year of a full windshield for Chevy trucks. Mine's been out of the truck for a few years. That's why I'm pokey! There is stainless trim that I tried to have installed with new rubber and the glass installer said the trim is sprung. There is no humps or kinks in the pieces but they don't fit in the seal. He was afraid of bending it to the point of a kink. I don't believe there are any aftermarket products? If you know of any, I'd sure like to know or if there is a way to straighten or if there's a trick to installing it the way it is. The installer said he thought it may be because I pushed the windshield out instead of cutting the seal. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim

I am not familiar with the '78 specifically, but most blower motors aren't too bad to get at on the Chevy trucks. I have done a couple of them on later models (both early and late 90's) and the motor and impeller drop out from under the passenger side under the glove box. Usually a perimeter of screws to remove, and the whole thing drops out. Is your fan running and can you hear it? Does it turn up high as it should? If so, it is possible that an internal damper is stuck between heat/defrost/etc. If it is a hatched motor, they aren't bad to change, though. Roomor

I see my wife has been getting help on her wheels. 4 new tires on powder coated rims are waiting for me to change out. Magic Jennie must have been at work. LOL I am getting ready to install door seals. Should I afix them to the out side edge of the door or to the cab or does it matter? Thanks, Joe

Hey, just wanted to see if anyone out there can help me. I have a 1966 Gmc 3/4 long bed pick up that I can not for the life of me find body bushings for. Every where you look you can find the bushings for the half ton but not the 3/4 ton. I know this is not the first one in the world to need the body bushings so why are they so damn hard to find. If anybody out there knows where to find them or a trick to use to make something work PLEASE HELP. I have nothing to go off of because the cab has already been removed before I got it with no cab mounts in sight. Please let me know if you have any info. Thanks Ricky

I'm looking for some information about adding rear shocks to my '48 1 ton. I know there was an option (200M) for this, but am unable to find any pictures of the setup. Also is there anyone who makes gearsets for this original 1 ton rearend? The 5.14 ratio has got to go.

Hello yall, I have a great old Chilton for my 78 Chevy Pick up but it does not have any wiring diagrams in it. I am not willing to buy a new Chilton due to the lack of detail in the mechanical as my old one has. Does anyone know where I can just get the wiring diagram without paying a mint for it? The intakes are the same for several years I know there is a an Offenhauser intake for that engine 2 ones and 3 ones. Clifford Research used to have a 4 bb intake and if I remember right a two 4 intake. There are also headers and other speed equipment . If you want to put a 2 bb carb, look for a 2 to 1 adapter.... im new to the site. im having a starting problem with my 78 f150. it has a 460 in it with a automatic transmision. here is what happen to cuz the problem: while rolling to a stop in drive i went to put it in to park a little to early. the bad thing is i didnt put it in park all the way and stopped in reverse. when dping so it stopped suddenly and started rolling backwards then cut off. i cant get it to crank now or even turn over. i held the key in the start postion and went through all the gears to see if i could get any action but it didnt work. someone told me that there should be a nutral switch or some kind of switch some where that should fix it, but i dont know where it is or what it does or the exact name. thanks for all the help i can get, matt

I would like some opinions or information on the proper radiator replacement I should use for a 1973 460 ford engine with a c-6 tranny in a 1956 f-100? the stock radiator is not working and I have tried many solutions to my heating problems.#1 no thermostat that didnt work put it back in with a 1/8"drilled hole in it.New water pump.new 6 blade steel solid fan.still heating up after approximatley 15 to 20 minutes running.I would like to know what type of radiators most of the 1956 trucks have in them with big block Chevys or fords and what is recommended ?any help would be appreciated as I dont want to invest 4 or 5 hundred dollars on the wrong one.Thanks ahead of time , BUD :confused:

Automatic, or manual tranny? If it's a manual, check the wiring & switch on the tranny. Trace the wiring back to the fuse panel, or ignition switch. Also, make sure the sockets are properly grounded. If it's an auto, check the wiring through the neutral safety switch, on top of the coulumn, under the dashboard. It's easiest to get to, by removing the column mount, and dropping the column onto the seat.

I've got a 50 F1 stock with the 51 style MAGIC-AIR heater mounted under the glove box. I can't find the flex duct from the heater fresh air inlet to the air duct on the right kick-panel. It's short with two different size rectangle openings. Anyone know who makes a repro? Ron
