Can I put my body on a s-10ex.cab frame and use the front end and rearend, or would it be better to put it on a camero or firebird frame and use the front and rearend? I want to put a v-8 and I need to have a Auto. trans., because I lst bot leggs in Viet Nam. Can someone tell me the best way to go or should I just use my frame and build it? The reason I want to build this truck is because I learn to drive with my Grandfathers 53. And that classic trucks Buyer's Guide were do I get the book? Thank You for your help. They were working when I had it hook up to an after market turn switch. '67 GMC C25 (3/4 ton) P/U has a Dana/Spicer 60 rear-end w/Full Floating Axles. I had a bearing problem a few weeks ago. I've cleared that mess up and now I'm putting it back together. For the wheel bearings on the full floater, the Spicer Axle Service manual says the bearings can be lubed either by axle grease or by rear-end gear lube, BUT that is as far as the Spicer Manual goes. It says "to check vehicle manufacture's specs for specific lube". All I have for Tech data on the '67; is the 67 - 72 Chevy/GMC Haynes Manual. The Haynes Manual says to pack the bearings with grease. One of our local mechanics says that is not right and the bearings are "wet lubed" from the differential. I tried to get additional information on line and to find a "factory" 67 GMC Service manual, but have not had much luck. What are the problem areas to look for that typically rust on these trucks? I have zero knowledge about the old trucks but like the Apache style. My 1959 apache was running good when the radiator sprung a leak. The radiator appeared to be half full when I discovered the leak. I replaced the radiator with a new one, filled it up with coolant and water, and when I fired it up, it started squealing like a pig. My suspicion is that the water pump died, but it seems weird to have two problems simultaneously. Anyone here have advice? Its all original, straight 6, been converted to a floor shifter. Basically if there is, i would like to know what type transmissions i should be looking for, having a time finding any tech specs on my truck.
