The Chosen Ones
The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association honored the Chosen 5-an elite group of award-winning cars and trucks-at the season-ending 9th Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, last November. The lineup featured John Hill's Canada-based '70 Chevelle SS LS6 (Goodguys/Unique Performance Muscle Car of the Year winner), Bob and Sherrie Benn's '36 Ford kustom from Old Hickory, Tennessee (Goodguys Kustom of the Year), Richard Ruiter's Guelph, Ontario, Canada-based '55 Chevy convertible (Goodguys/Eagle One Custom Rod of the Year), Jeff Wingo's Chicago-based '50 Studebaker pickup (Goodguys Truck of the Year-Early), and Gary Coe's radical '57 Ford pickup from Portland, Oregon (Goodguys Truck of the Year-Late).

The Goodguys Chosen 5 award winners were selected from a pool of finalists chosen throughout the entire 2006 Goodguys event season. Instead of picking the awards at specific events, Goodguys selected finalists for each award at different events around the country, providing car owners from across the U.S. a shot at winning.

Goodguys will again select the Chosen 5 awards in 2007 by qualifying a finalist for each award at various events around the country. But never fear, classic truck enthusiasts-Goodguys has altered the Top Ten program, and the winners will now be crowned with Finest Five honors at the following locations: Del Mar, California; Des Moines, Iowa; Kansas City, Kansas: Fort Worth, Texas; and Charlotte, North Carolina. Stay tuned to for a full list ofall the 2007 Goodguys events andspecial awards!

Mooneyes-Bigger And Better...Again
The Mooneyes X-Mas Party held December 9 at Irwindale Speedway was by far the largest party the Moon USA staff had ever held. Attendance numbered in the 4,000 range, with roughly 800 show cars. By 1:30 p.m., the gates-or gate, as the track decided to allow spectators and participants in through the same (single) gate-were closed temporarily to halt traffic, as the lots were full. Around 2:00 p.m., Irwindale opened their circle track to allow cars to park inside, allowing the gates to be re-opened. Moon had always expected a larger crowd in the past than the year before, but this year the number of people who came exceeded anyone's expectations by a long shot. Unofficially, Irwindale's staff said it was the largest event to ever take place there.
