When it came time to do the interior it was obvious this was going to be a lot more than just a driver so Hudson’s Rod & Customs covered the Chrysler 300 bucket seats with buckskin leather with a lighter color leather insert. The door panels were built to match and a custom console divides the bucket seats. The original cluster was retained but is now filled with Classic Instruments gauges. Use of the original-style dash knobs keeps some good old-fashioned Ford truck flavor in the cab. Wool carpets cover the floors where rubber mats once were found, and the painted ididit steering column is topped with a banjo-style wheel. The interior is much like the rest of the truck, well-planned and functional with great attention to detail.
And so, 18 months after bringing a rough old truck to R.A.W. Rods, Aaron Watkins delivered a truck to Phyllis Smith that now carries all those fond old memories in fine style, and it’s still red.
