A month or so ago San Antonio's Jim Cross shared some pictures of his '57 Chevrolet Cameo pickup he restored. Jim originally purchased the truck back in 1977 down in Lubbock as a project for his son to restore. (He was taking body shop courses in high school at the time.)

The Cameo was in pretty rough condition when purchased and Jim thought it would be a great learning experience project for him. Alas, Jim youngster soon found another interest-girls-and that was the end of the project. After that the pickup sat for several years before Jim finally decided to restore it for himself. Fortunately, he was working for a General Motors dealership at the time and was able to obtain a copy of the original buildsheet for the truck. That inside info allowed him to restore the '57 back to the way it came off of the assembly line. It is a complete off-the-frame restoration. The Cameo was lovingly restored and still utilizes its original 283-cube V-8 backed by a three-speed standard transmission. The only real update was the addition of a Vintage Air aftermarket A/C unit to make cruising in the overly warm climate of San Antonio much more enjoyable.
