Ed, Beth, Vince, and Frankie Lanzoni from Du Bois, Pennsylvania, sent in pictures of their '52 F-1 to share with us. They picked the old Ford up as an unfinished, unassembled project and it took the next five years to complete the total transformation starting with the frame. They added a TCI front clip with rack-and-pinion steering and power disc brakes. They also went with a TCI setup in the rear. The drivetrain consists of a Chevy small-block 400, a Turbo 350 tranny, and a 10-bolt with 3.08:1 gears.
Once the drivetrain was complete, they turned their attention to the body. The Lanzoni's installed fiberglass front and rear fenders as well as running boards. The cab was chopped 31/2 inches before it was sprayed with black suede paint. Orange metalflake flames and pinstriping were then added. To complete the project, a custom interior was installed.
This truck was built by the whole family and a handful of close friends. Ed says that after years of building muscle cars that follow certain "unwritten rules" in order to retain their value, it was a real pleasure to build a project exactly the way they wanted to build it.
