Reader Scott Lepping from Green Lane, Pennsylvania, sent an email with some pictures of his '48 GMC five-window pickup.
First and foremost Scott wanted to thank a few people, including Tim Hain, of Tim's Rod Shop in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, for the chassis work; and Trick Works, in Telford, Pennsylvania, for the bodywork. When the ex-farm truck is finished Scott says the only original parts will be some of the stock frame and most of the sheetmetal. Some of the modern improvements are a Heidt's Mustang II independent front suspension, RB's leaf spring rear suspension kit, a Ford 9-inch posi rearend with 3.50:1 gears, a 454 big-block Chevy engine, and a TCI Turbo 400 trans under the hood. There is also a new Griffin aluminum radiator, ECI four-wheel power disc brakes, a Gennie shifter, Limeworks steering column, a reproduction steering wheel, 2 1/2-inch handmade exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, a Vintage Air heater, American Racing Salt Flat Special wheels, and much more. Sounds like Scott and his friends have been busy!
