Two-Fold Fun
Joe Maddox II sent in some pictures of the '74 Chevy Scottsdale he restored. He bought the truck from his ailing father-in-law as an in-progress project just after the frame was finished. It took Joe a year of weekends to get the rest of the truck straightened before he could get around to tackling the two-tone paintjob. This of course made his father-in-law happy, but as it turned out, Joe's own dad had a truck just like this longbed, so it brought back plenty of memories for both sides of the family!
The 350 engine is not original, but it did come out of a '75 Caprice police car. The four-bolt main small-block has a Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, headers, and an HEI ignition just to name a few. Joe says the five-lug C-10 scoots pretty good for a big old truck. He also said he had lots of fun putting the truck back together one bolt at a time, but we'd bet he has a better time driving it!

Family, Friends, and Fords
Subscriber Jim MacFarlane from the Great White North in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, sent us these pictures of his '52 Ford panel truck. Jim is a retired 59-year-old who has been battling leukemia for the last few years. He purchased the '52 in 2005 from a house painter who used it for his business.
The following summer, with the help of a few very dedicated friends and family members, the Ford was gone through from the ground up. Most of the work was done in Jim's backyard garage over a 2 1/2-year period. The frame was boxed and has a Volare front end with power disc brakes and steering. He kept a "Ford in a Ford" by using a 460 big-block, C6 tranny, and a 9-inch rear axle. The 460 wears a 750cfm Holley, Weiand intake, Comp cam, roller rockers from Ford Racing, and Sanderson headers. The body was kept stock but painted Dark Cranberry. Interior is also close to stock except for bucket seats, a Lokar shifter, accessory gauges from Auto Meter, and some added upholstery on the door panels, ceiling, and cargo area. The completion of this truck brings to fruition a lifelong dream of Jim's and he's very grateful for all the help from friends and family. Hang in there Jim and keep driving that old Ford, it's good medicine!
