Cary Blades bought an issue of CLASSIC TRUCKS a while back and enjoyed it so much he thought he'd share the story of his '41 Chevy with us. He bought the Chevy in Fort Worth, Texas, a little over three years ago. The previous owner had recently finished a full frame-off rebuild/resto. He did, however, install a '70 Chevy 400ci truck motor and Turbo 350 transmission as well as the rearend from a '57 Chevy. All of this was a dream come true to Cary, as he's been slowly putting more time and money into it since to make it his own.
He thought it would be neat to turn the truck into an old bootlegger vehicle, so he found a big whisky barrel and mounted it in the bed of the truck to hold the 'shine. Inside the cab there's a replica Tommy gun (we hope it's fake) and a little extra Jack in a bottle. To say the two-tone truck stands out in a crowd is an understatement. Cary says he's shown it around his hometown of Austin, Texas, seven times in the past two years and won First Place each time-maybe the judges were thirsty ... or bribed?!
