Sergeant First Class Mike Wiggins Sr. is a station commander in the U.S. Army in Deland, Florida, who has always loved working on classic cars and trucks. He wanted to build a truck to go along with the "Army Strong" theme and soon found and bought a '72 Chevy C-10 in May 2006 that needed a total restoration. Lee Miller's Auto Service Center in Valdosta, Georgia, put a new Chevy 350 engine in it as well as replaced everything on the frontend. They also converted the truck from a three-on-the-tree to a floor shift.
Since the bed was so rotted, Mike went to a junkyard and bought the bed off a '96 Chevy and had SprayGlo in Valdosta do all the bodywork. He then took it to American Muffler Shop in Valdosta for a new exhaust system. Mike replaced the front and rear bumpers and the grille with custom-built pieces by Russell Brown Race Cars, also in Valdosta.
Thinking outside the box for the exterior and again trying to incorporate the "Army Strong" theme resulted in having the truck wrapped in the wild ACU camouflage pattern. Mike says the U.S. Army has done so much for him and his family, and he's proud to represent them out on the road with his '72. We'll salute that!
