Mississippi C-10
It started as a trade with a friend for a '66 Chevelle, and in the end, Tony Adams had a '64 C-10 on his hands. The Chevy was just in primer and still mostly stock, with drum brakes and not even the thought of air conditioning. During the next two years the Stepside morphed into the bright red jewel we see on the page thanks to Kevin and Wayne Poe of Jackson, Mississippi. They did most of the work on the chassis, including the installation of 2 1/2-inch dropped spindles, late-GM disc brakes, and a chrome Flaming River box. The C-10 sits on blinding 20-inch Coy's five-spokes and Goodyear Eagle P275/45R20s. The stock inline-six was ditched for a GM crate 350, now home to an Edelbrock intake, Holley 650, and a set of Hooker Dynamat headers. The Lokar-equipped 700-R4 helps kick the gears in the 3.73:1 12-bolt as Tony cruises around his hometown of Brandon, Missouri. Kevin and Wayne's Body Shop also handled the tin work as well as layin' down the glossy PPG '05 GM Red stuff. The chrome comes from Goodmark bumpers and a Chevy Duty grille. Since these pictures were taken, Tony has added even more brightwork inside and out. The custom seat was built and covered by Kevin and Wayne in Peanut Butter leather and is surrounded by Vintage Air, XM Radio, a Grant wheel, and a billet gauge panel. If you're motoring around the South, you'd better keep an eye out for Tony and his '64 as they pass you!
