Bragging Rights
Norman Evans of Elwood, Nebraska, hoped he wasn't coming off as bragging to us when he sent in his '53 Ford to be featured as a Classic Cruiser. On the contrary, Norman! We're glad that you obviously have taken great pride in your 2 1/2-year project. Norman's first-year F-100 still breathes true-blue under the tilt hood through the use of a 302 Ford small-block and C4 trans that chirps the 17-inch polished Americans. Inside the ghost-flamed Effie, things get even better with A/C, a Dakota Digital dash, power steering, and a trouble-free keyless remote system. On the outside, we find LED turn signal mirrors, roll pans fore and aft, and a third brake light that's integrated into the back of the cab that flips people's lids at the local cruises. Norman goes on to tell us that he cut some great cedar wood from his family farm and churned out a number of smooth planks for the bed floor and also whittled down a few smaller pieces to use for a number of interior accents to really church things up. We say Norman now officially has every right to toot his own horn and to be proud of the numerous trophies his '53 has hauled home!
A Dream Come True
Armand Provost spent three worthwhile years of his life dedicated to breathing new life into his '52 Chevrolet dream truck. During that time the three-window got a small-block between the two-toned black fenders, a Turbo 350 under its red hood, and a more than able '74 Camaro rearend under its glossy oak bed floor. Armand rolled up his sleeves and did all the work on the 3100, including the metal and paintwork. Inside the cab is a stock bench covered in red and black velour to match the exterior. The '52 still has the stock I-beam and steering up front, so as not to forget the trucks roots. Armand and his wife, Dorothy, drove the truck from their home in Agawam, Massachusetts, to the Adirondack Nationals in New York where they got 11th Place in the Favorite 50 category.
That snow sure looks cold!
