As I wandered slack-jawed through a sea of extraordinary cars and trucks I had the pleasure of meeting and striking up a conversation with Steve and Diane Meister. As the three of us admired a few nearby classic pickups I learned that not only were these fine folks fellow Southwesterners and participants rather than spectators, but that they'd driven their 1956 Mercury M-100 all the way from Lake Havasu, Arizona, as well. Unfortunately their pickup was parked clear on the other side of the infield. After a short time we parted ways; they headed off to enjoy the rest of the vehicles at this end of the infield and I made a beeline to the other to check out their bright red M-100 clone. And as you can see, it was well worth the walk.
