All of the Goodguys gatherings are great, but there's just something about the Colorado Nationals in Loveland that makes me count it as one of my favorite events of the season.

For the last dozen years or so I've been wingin' (I'd rather be drivin' but deadlines won't allow it) across the country covering various Goodguys shows. This year, I again had the good fortune to start my travel season by covering the Goodguys Colorado Nationals (June 4-6). It was my second time covering this event-and I really do enjoy my time there! Upon my return and reflection, the Colorado gathering is perhaps one of the best regional Goodguys shows I'm lucky enough to attend. The trucks and cars were knock-your-socks-off gorgeous (as usual), and the people perhaps the nicest I've ever had the pleasure to meet (though I say that every year, and I really do mean it).

The gathering was again at The Ranch at Larimer County Fairgrounds (a really nice venue, by the way), and it featured well over 2,000 classic trucks, hot rods, customs, classics, and muscle cars through '72. There were a great variety of vendor and exhibitor booths, a good-sized swap meet for automotive related parts, a car corral with a bunch of potential projects for sale, and the awesome Street Challenge Autocross event. Like all Goodguys get-togethers, there's also lots of fun available for the whole family, plus lots of entertainment all weekend long! Also, like most Goodguys gatherings there was a great kickoff party-this time held Thursday afternoon at Pinkee's Rod Shop. The Pinkee's staff went all out with food, beverages, live music, and a great open house so everyone could check out the awesome projects (both complete and in progress), truly a great way to kick off a wonderful weekend.

As I stated earlier, the trucks were awesome and the people great. In fact, I'm still not sure which I enjoyed more-checking out the classic trucks or bench racin' and shootin' the bull with the attendees! No matter, the Goodguys Colorado Nationals is great all around, and I'm really hoping I'm able to include the event again in next year's schedule! And, if you're not a regular attendee I'd really suggest adding the Goodguys Colorado Nationals to your 2011 event schedule-you'll be glad you did, take my word for it!
