Another mid-'60s F-100 that stopped us was ex-mini trucker John Dioli's '65 Ford. He graduated into full-size pickups years ago and couldn't be happier! John's now a member of Pickups Limited's San Diego chapter, and it looks like he figured out how to nail the stance on his low F-100. | It took a bit of crowd control to get a clear shot of Bob Wells' orange '56 big-window. And as if it wasn't enough for Bob to have a super clean truck in the first place, he had to go ahead and stuff an ultra-rare BOSS 429 Cammer motor topped with 2x4s between the fenders! | One of the most unusual yet fun trucks at the show was Laurie Gates' '35 Ford 1-ton panel truck. It seemed as if the almost larger-than-life enclosed hauler was in its all-original commercial state and may still be used for the refreshing business advertised on each side. |
Jerami (we lost your last name!) brought out a Golden Nugget '56 big-window customized back in the very early '60s and remaining in that state today; thankfully, it was never "updated" like so many customs. It may not be your cup of tea, but all the body mods, gold metalflake paint, '59 390 Eldorado motor, Buick wire wheels,... | ...and the full Eddie Martinez interior that includes a TV and a 45-rpm record player all come together to create a piece of history. Stay tuned for a full feature. | Unfortunately, there wasn't a window sticker in this clean '76 F-100, but that didn't keep us from wondering how nice the deep black Dentside would look in our garage. |
Street Chopper Editor Courtney Halowell drove his "dollar-a-dent" '59 F-100 out to the show, but he was kicking the tires of this fairly straight '57 as soon as the seller parked it. Courtney's haggling had the owner under the three grand mark at one point... | It's a good thing the trucks were parked on the grass, because we're sure more than a few people fell over at the sight of Nick Olaerts' custom '50 Mercury "crew cab." He drives it all over Southern California and makes it a point to go to all the good shows, like the Western Nats. | Jerry Booze from Fullerton, CA, was on hand to represent his club Forties LTD at the show with his green candy '40 Ford. Jerry's truck has a good thing going-all the parts that aren't painted are dipped in blinding chrome. Dig the little nerf bars and chrome wheels and hubcaps. |
