Pickups Limited is an F-100 club that was started here in Orange County, California, in '68 by Lee Hill, who posted an ad in a local paper looking for others interested in '53-56 Ford F-100 trucks, and the rest is history! For 25 of the last 39 years, Pickups Limited has hosted the F-100 Western Nationals truck show, which has become the largest all-Ford truck show in the Western United States.
This year, prior to the big show, Pickups Limited organized a beach cruise that led down to where else but Surf City, USA.
F-100s lined beachside parking in Huntington Beach much of the day, basking in the summer sun before heading out to John Force's Race Station for an exciting tour of his facilities. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend Friday's activities, but we heard rave reviews of the day from more than a few participants on Saturday. We should have the Bumpside Build-Off '68 F-100 there next year!
The '07 show was held at Featherly Park in Anaheim, California, which has a nice campground, RV parking, a central location, and, best of all, a large canopy of trees that provided plenty of shade for the almost 200 Ford trucks in attendance. A good number of the entries were from surrounding states, but Steve and Autumn Neiheisel won the Long Distance Award by driving their '53 panel all the way from Ohio. Over 25 awards were given out, plus more than $7,000 worth of prizes from all the sponsors raffled off, including a four-post lift from Garage Equipment Supply-that we didn't win-to make the day that much more exciting.

Effie fans had plenty to feast their eyes on at the show, including Richard Flamminio's red '56 that looked pretty happy next to David and Martha Roberts' white TCI framed and blown Chevy-powered big-window. |
