Roadster pickups are classic trucks, too, right? We sure think so, though we might not be so apt to haul much other than our own butts in something as nice as this! | Years ago, Fat Jack Robinson built this '56 F-100 that became the first classic truck to ever grace the cover of Hot Rod. To this day, the truck looks as good as it did then, and with the addition of the 18- and 20-inch Coddington Smoothie IIs, you'd be hard-pressed to tell just how long ago it was actually finished. | If you're looking for the ultimate drop, look no further than GO-EZ Customs in Placentia, CA. Self-proclaimed as the number-one "Asphalt Assault Vehicle" experts, if Chris Governo's '65 Chevy is any indication, that might just be true. |
Classic Trucks Finest Five 2007 Another feature-to-be, Mark McDonald's '69 GMC hails from Porterville, CA, just north of Bakersfield. He and Mike Fusco came down to Del Mar together with their families; they both went home Finest Five award recipients. | Note that Mark's truck wears the same wheels as the Fat Jack Effie, but with a satin powdercoat job that makes a world of difference. | They must be putting something in the water up in the Bakersfield area, as they've been producing a number of clean classic trucks. Gary Naworski's light blue Effie is a prime example of not overdoing it-cleanliness is definitely not next to gaudiness! |
Del Mar was the inaugural event for CLASSIC TRUCKS' revamped award program, dubbed the Finest Five for 2007. Appropriately enough, it was also the West Coast debut for Jim Stach's '59 Chevy Apache built by Zoomers Automotive Garage in Denver, CO. Stay tuned till next month for a full-color feature on this Truck of the Year finalist. | From Apple Valley, CA, Dave Patterson told us this was the unveiling of his fresh '37 Chevy. Not only did Dave earn himself a Finest Five for his efforts, but a Boyd's Pro's Pick as well. | As previously mentioned, Mike Fusco made the trek south to Del Mar with fellow award-winner Mark McDonald. While Mark's GMC was stunning nonetheless, Mike's '70 Blazer is an exercise in full-custom modifications, from top to bottom, inside and out. Look for a feature on this beauty soon. |
