Jason Wilson single-handedly kicked up Oklahoma's reputation (which is hard to do in Texas!) with his amazing '54 F-100. Under the 5 1/2-inch chop is a gorgeous red UltraLeather interior and a BBK-built Ford SOHC motor. The red steel wheels, whitewalls, and spider caps are a nice touch that go hand in hand with the chrome running boards-stay tuned for a feature on this beaut! | Has anyone ever tried driving from Amarillo to Fort Worth in a '66 Dodge A-100? Charles Lamb has, and because I didn't get any hate mail for the Econoline I gave a Top Ten to in Waukesha, I figured I'd include this odd duck here. The A-100 is Charles' daily driver, and he keeps the two-barrel-fed 318 in tip-top shape so the Daisy mags can stay rolling across the Panhandle. | Toward the end of the show, we found Kenny Murphy's '59 Chevy sitting pretty much by itself in the middle of the infield. Whether we missed it before or he showed up late, we're not sure, but one thing we know is that he got a cool truck. The window sticker told us he's from Farmersville, TX, and the drivetrain was stock, but this Apache's chassis was anything but! If you have a '55-59 Chevy and wondered what it'd look like with the rockers on the ground, here you go. |
Few people take the time to dress their inline motors as nicely as Keith Stephens in his '68 C-10. The rest of the truck is immaculate, and the engine bay is, too. A few dress-up parts and a lot of planning made it so most of the plumbing and wiring is either out of sight or run as if it were art. Notice the gloss-black powdercoated radiator "hoses." | If we understood right, Dennis, Kim, and Chloe Edwards cruised three-wide all the way from Duncan, OK, in their red '50 Studebaker pick 'em up. Studes have some pretty smooth lines from the factory and don't need much to look good, and the Edwards agree. They decided to ditch the flathead and Commander trans for the fail-safe Chevy 350/350, and had a nice red interior stitched up to match the paint. | While seeking refuge in the shade from the heat and humidity for a few minutes, we heard there was gonna be some sort of grudge-match race between two '50s-style rail jobs.... |
...So much for resting our feet-we had to see who was going to win between the flathead Ford V-8 and the Chevy straight-six. Guess who? The Chevy! | TJ Akins and Nathan Hale were afternoon stragglers, and we're glad they made it with their '70 C-10 longbed and '53 Chevy truck. Both cruised in from Lewisville, TX, and Nathan's blue '53 looks great with Supremes sitting on the boiling pavement next to TJ's C-10 that's slammed as well with a 400 and a Turbo 400 under the hood. | You can always plan on doing some shopping whenever you go to a Goodguys show, and Fort Worth was no exception. This is all the more reason to drive a truck into any show, and if you don't have one, there were plenty for sale, whether you were looking for a project or a driver. |
