For the last four years, the folks at Bobco in Elsinore, California, have sprung forward each April with a little thing they like to call the SuperTour Kick-Off Party. This year, though, it was anything but little (it really never has been a small affair), as the event was organized as a charity benefit for the Progeria Research Foundation. For their efforts and hard work, $23,000 was raised and donated to the foundation.
Progeria (Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, or HGPS) is a genetic condition that causes accelerated aging leading to premature heart failure in children, most of whom never reach age 13. Though medical treatment exists, there currently is no cure for Progeria. But that doesn't mean there isn't hope, and with contributions like that from the SuperTour Kick-Off, the Progeria Research Foundation can continue working toward finding that cure. For more information, please visit www.progeriaresearch.org
Bobco didn't go at it alone, though, as companies like Classic Performance Products, Total Cost Involved, Blue Oval Truck Parts, MidFifties, and even the folks who organize the tour, Pickups Limited, all contributed products or support to make the party happen. Our hats are off to everyone involved! Despite dark clouds looming overhead, we made the short trip down to the ever-growing Lake Elsinore area for some good eatin', a great display of F-100s, and, of course, a great cause.
