It was hard to believe that we were already well into the month of December while I was headed over to the annual Mooneyes Xmas Party at the Star Academy in Southern Whittier, California. Santa Claus himself couldn't have brought a nicer day for a car show if he tried!
Lucky for me I wasn't entering a car this year, which made it possible to show up at my leisure and listen to everyone's tales of how early they had to get there to get a spot-much of this ironically coming from a crowd that wants nothing to do with "power parking gold chainers" from more mainstream shows, hummm... Anyway, I would have to agree this show needs to be held in a bigger location, with evidence spilling out and lining the surrounding streets. On the walk from my truck to the show I couldn't help but snap some shots of some slammed short-wides in various parking lots and side streets. Once inside the show I was greeted by more cool trucks amongst all the hot rods and customs and a plethora of bikes. There were more cycles there this year than any other I can remember, which altogether made a healthy mix of whatever your taste of "motivation" may be. Aside from the car show, there were, of course, plenty of artists on hand peddling their lovingly crafted wares amongst the other vendors, all the while the Dynatones and other Moon regulars were serving up some tunes on stage with a raffle taking place later that afternoon. Next December, don't just sit in the house sippin' on something warm; come enjoy our sunshine and the Mooneyes Xmas Party here in SoCal!
