Smokin' in Scottsdale!
Some people just know how... Some people just know how to have more fun than others, while the rest pass out in an attempt to keep up! Carl Conrad filled the back of his '65 F-100 with some sand and told me they were up since 5:30 a.m. "having fun." Remember your sunscreen! | Truck of the Year-Late went... Truck of the Year-Late went to Rick Clutter's F-100 "F-THIS." The eye-searing orange truck had a ton of people around it all weekend while it was on display; luckily I got some shots while it was on its way to collect the prestigious award. | There were a handful of Carryalls... There were a handful of Carryalls and Suburbans in Scottsdale, too. Hailing from Gold Canyon, AZ, Ron and Cheryl Reichenbacker were having a blast with their silver '65 Jimmy. | There was plenty of what everyone... There was plenty of what everyone wants in the vendor area, chrome, bling, the shiny stuff! The tent area was a busy place Saturday and Sunday too. We all love parts and widgets, don't we... | ...Whether it was personal... ...Whether it was personal or for Christmas, visitors got a jump on some holiday shopping or at least they tried to justify it that way. One vendor even had a sign that read "Your wife said buy whatever you want." | Industrial Chassis' open house... Industrial Chassis' open house was really cool because it was a hands-on affair! Steve Szymanski was demonstrating heat shrinking and hammer welding, and they also had the TIG welder fired up for all to try. | Trucks with a purpose! There... Trucks with a purpose! There were more cabovers and roll-backs in Scottsdale than I'd ever seen in the same place. When was the last time you saw a '48 Studebaker COE? Me neither, but this one was neat! Mark and Mary (sorry, I couldn't read the last name) probably had a fun drive from Ventura, CA. I want the dash out of one of these! | This '50 Chevy was a nice... This '50 Chevy was a nice departure from the "usual," with its spokes and spinners, smooth and curvy bed, chop-top, frenched grille, and plenty of louvers. Bob Maxwell runs Max's Louver Service out of Glendale, Arizona. | Almost too nice to look at!... Almost too nice to look at! Boyd Coddington thought so, too, and picked it for an award. Ruth and Harold drove from my hometown, Salt Lake City, UT, and were more than happy to accept. | Speaking of those people who... Speaking of those people who know how to have fun, Scott and Shay Dupras from Tempe seemed to be the ringleaders for this lively bunch in the back of Scott's F-1... | ...He was trying to tell me... ...He was trying to tell me that he had a Caddy under the hood, but you can't fool a man with a Cadillac tattoo, Scott! Scott's modified Caddy covers pop on easily over his small-block's valve covers at shows. | |
