Z 1936 Truck
We're seeing more past CT feature trucks at more and more events each year, which sure is a lot better than seeing a lot of past feature trucks from other magazines. Texas was no exception, as we ran across Rodney Payne's '36 (with updated Dayton wheel package) and Al Ubrun's '56 (which came all the way from the editor's hometown of Riverside, CA).

Z Chevy C 10
The Truck Corral and Pro's Picks areas were the hot spots to be over the weekend. The quality of trucks that poured in and out of the Corral throughout the day was very impressive, as you can see.

Z Dragster Front
While on the topic of nostalgic cool, how about the front-engined dragster, The Scorpion? It's no truck, but with a quad-97-topped Chrysler Hemi planted almost in your lap, you know could provide a memorable trip down "memory strip."

Z Ride Along
Ah, the one non-truck attraction from the Lone Star Nats that can't be avoided--the NASCAR ride-along. For a hundred smackeroos, you can sit shotgun in an actual Cup-style car and tour Texas Motor Speedway at 160mph! For a few bucks more (in excess of $300), you can actually drive the same cars--settling for the ride-along isn't much of a sacrifice, though.

Z 1963 Chevy
Just a few yards away, the quality was not quite as high. Of course, we're talking about the swap meet and used car corral area, which to be quite honest, had a number of good deals on trucks like this big-window '63 with a fresh-looking 283 under the hood that could be had for under $5K.
