This past season's Shades of The Past get together (in picturesque Pigeon Forge, Tennessee) was again an absolutely fantastic show. The 19th annual two-day affair came off without a hitch thanks to great weather, fantastic planning, and hundreds of the finest hot rod and custom cars and trucks you could ever wish for. The sea of rolling artwork enhanced the already beautiful scenery surrounding the Smoky View Ranch, and the huge crowd of participants and spectators took full advantage, enjoying what is for many a favorite gathering. As has been done in the past, the host club (thanks to many generous sponsors) built and gave away two cars at the event. This time around they were a complete turn-key '32 Ford and an unfinished one who's lucky winner could complete to their own satisfaction.
As is evident at any show, enthusiasts love to revitalize the great trucks and autos of bygone years, while others enjoy customizing and fine-tuning their original designs. The showing at this Shades of The Past event was no exception of this fact and both customizers and restorers alike brought the town of Pigeon Forge alive with automotive ambiance once again.
Just when you think you've seen it all and thought that enthusiasts could never outdo themselves, they turn around and turn out some fantastic new state-of-the-art cars and trucks to wow the crowd. This show was no different. The Pro's Pick area found many new high-tech rides for everyone to drool over. It also ensured that all who attended had great fun and fond memories and walked away with new ideas for their own projects and or a new found respect for the automotive hobby. So, grab your cameras and walking shoes and head out to this year's 20th Shades of the Past Rod Run. We're sure you'll have a ball!
